About ten days ago, the lid and frame, which haven't been secure for months due to crumbled tarmac, disappeared, and the sandbags and cones were put in place promptly. At no point did I see a dangerous hole in the pavement. I'm reporting this because, although the placing of cones might suggest the council is aware of the problem and have raised a ticket to fix it, there is no guarantee of that, given previous experiences, such as the blocked gulleys on Barton St. The council has refused on Twitter to confirm a ticket, so as promised, I'll be making a FoI request to get that information... I just reported a problem on @fixmystreet www.fixmystreet.com/report/1315803

The work was Virgin Media's responsibility, and they fixed it, in the end. It begs the question, though, how can private companies know there's a problem to deal with, when their name and contact details aren't on a 'CATV' lid, assuming the lid is still there?
